Ropers in Germany – Update

Gemeinsam für Hamburg

As we look over these past 6-7 months, we have been amazed to see the Lord direct our steps and open up doors that only He could open. I do not have the time to tell you all of the stories that He has done and with whom He has connected us with, but one thing is clearly evident: He has been doing it. We praise Him!
I would like to share with you about a leadership meeting that I attended the other night. This was a meeting for all pastors, city ministry leaders, and others. The meeting took place on a boat ride along the Elbe River, which was definitely an added plus. How thankful I was to be informed about this meeting by a dear sister in the city of Hamburg. If she had not emailed me, then I would not have known about it. So I am so thankful that she thought it would be important to inform me. If you are reading this. Thank You!

As I boarded the boat, I believe I only knew around five of the 100+ people that were on it. If you know me, then you know that I am not the most outgoing person in the midst of a crowd, especially when it is a crowd of people that I do not know, but I knew that I needed to be at this meeting. I knew that it would be important to make more connections and to step out in faith and see who the Lord would connect us with. On my way to the meeting, I quickly sent a SMS message to Rebecca, Janos, and Anja asking for their prayers. First, that I would be able to understand a lot of the discussions. Second, that the Lord would ordain whom I was to talk with. So after boarding the boat and getting my name tag, I quickly sat down at a table where no one was sitting. Typical me. After a short time, many others joined me at the table and the discussions began.
When I look back on the evening now, I am so thankful for all of those that I had the chance to meet and talk with. For some, who had never heard of Calvary Chapel, I had the chance to share with them who we are and what is important to us. For others, I had the chance to share a little of our journey here to Hamburg and what the Lord had been doing in and through us. Towards the end of the meeting, there was a break time where we would be able to go outside and get some fresh air and just enjoy the fellowship. Since it was raining, many of us crowded together on the back of the boat and the discussions continued.

It was during this time as I looked out over Hamburg, standing next to many of the pastors and ministry leaders here in the city, that I began to pray and thank the Lord for what He has done. I could not believe that in less than seven months I was a part of such a meeting. I stood there in amazement of Him and how He has been faithful to open up the doors of opportunity to get connected with others in Hamburg. I know that if I had to try to do all that He has done in just seven months, it would have taken me years to do. I couldn’t help but thank Him!
Jesus, You alone are God! You deserve all praise, honor, and glory. We are nothing without You! We bless You Lord!
As the evening was coming to a close, I began to reflect on all that I heard. How encouraging it was to hear what the Lord has already been doing in the city of Hamburg. I truly look forward to the things that He will continue to do here. Hamburg is a very large city with a lot of needs. God is at work in this city and He is definitely connecting us to others who are like-minded. We ask that you would continue to pray for the people of Hamburg and that many would come to a saving knowledge of Jesus!
God Bless you!
