Steve Bailey and James Vaca are now in the Philippines on Negros Island. They are our advance team that headed over to prepare for another team traveling there in about 10 days. Their job is to assess different disaster areas that have been impacted by Typhoon Haiyan/Yolanda and then determine a location and direction for future ministry.
They spent the first two days getting acclimated and meeting with representatives from a ministry called Pastoral Training of Asia [http://pastoraltraining.org]. Now they are on the way to the island of Bohol where they will assess an area that was severely impacted by the 7.2 earthquake that hit the Philippines on October 15th, 2013 and then dealt a second blow by Typhoon Haiyan. They just called in as they were awaiting the ferry which will take them to the island.
Please be in prayer for them as they travel throughout this region. They are feeling good and strong right now so pray that God will continue to keep them safe, sustained and in good spirits.
Another team of five will depart from our church on the 12th of January to join them so please be praying for that team for God’s traveling mercies and for God’s peace.
