Blog from Bryan Malolot in the Philippines

Here is some blog posts from Bryan Malolot that I thought you might find interesting:

Last Week:

I am alive. In Lalawigan, East Samar. We’ve been in the middle of a class 1 typhoon for the last half of this past week. It’s been raining everyday, and we’ve been working hard here on the field. I go to bed every night thinking and praying for all of you. Half way thru, as of today, continued prayers very very much appreciated. The hearts of the people here are hopeful and we went DEEP IN worship today at church. Love and miss you all. Till next week.

Won’t have wifi again for a week. Love reading all these messages. I’ve been fighting a crazy battle with my skin allergies but I’ve learned to say THANK YOU GOD thru it all.

We are staying right on the water front. It’s been cool every night to fall asleep to the water crashing not even 10ft away from my bunk. It does get a little sketchy tho because of the heavy rain and typhoon just off the coast. There have been a few times when the rain starts pounding and wind picks up that the locals (including myself) freak out and look for cover. We were very fortunate that we did not have to evacuate our town. The towns south of us were evacuated and moved to a safer location.

Upon arrival in Tacloban from the air, you can get an idea of the damage, but it wasn’t until we landed that my eyes were open to how real the devastation was. I have never seen anything this bad in my life. It totally reminded me of the Universal Studio tram ride thru the War Of The World set where everything is destroyed but X 100. The people here are very grateful that we are here to help. I’ve gotten many thank you’s from the locals and each time my heart breaks. I have never experienced so much love from a people, and it makes it harder for me to accept leaving at the end of this week.

Being here has given me such an appreciation for what is important in my life. I scroll thru every picture and video on my phone every night and pray for each person I see. I miss my family. Especially my lola. This trip was hard to leave because I didn’t know if I would see her again. I hope you are all well. Signing off for real now till next week. Love you fam
