Serving Soroti

We had a very blessed time with Calvary Chapel Soroti. Our heart for them is that of Paul’s for the Ephesians, “Therefore I also, after I heard of your faith in the Lord Jesus and your love for all the saints, do not cease to give thanks for you, making mention of you in my prayers.” (Ephesians 1:15-16) It was such a blessing to see their faith and love after hearing of it for the past year and a half. I will let the team tell you about our time there.

Our second day, we had the privilege of doing VBS with the children.  There were over 200 children.  We broke the children into three groups by age.  Tony Magtoto was able to share with the children that no matter what they do wrong, Jesus still loves them.  The rest of us presented the gospel by doing the salvation bracelet and playing with them. Many accepted the Lord. God is good. Later on in the day, we were able to feed the children and play some more. Saying goodbye to them was the hardest thing for each one of us, but we know that the Lord was able to use the team to love on these children. -Hanna

Our third day in Soroti, we went into the marketplace and witnessed to the people there. While Pastor Gary preached to the adults, the younger team members played “Cow Cow Goat” with the children in the area who were also at the VBS the day before. Hollow and Tony also danced for the kids and they loved it. When we were walking back, we heard screaming coming from behind us. We looked back and all the kids we had played with were running after us. They ran into our crowd and held our hands. We took them to where we had done VBS, treated them for worms, gave them water, and played with them until we had to leave. They tried following us when we left, but this time we had to stop them. All of them stole our hearts. -Kalea

We had the opportunity to have a time in the God’s Word with the ladies from CC Soroti. It was wonderful to see them nod their heads in agreement as I shared about the love of God and how we can trust God for our lives. We ended with how we find joy in the presence of the Lord and that’s where we want to live. It was such a blessing to talk with them and learn their stories. We were able to pray with many of them for their needs. To God be all the glory. –Carol
