Today was a busy day as part of the team trekked up about 1500 feet to visit a small village where a elderly woman we had flown out of here, right after the earthquake lives. She had a wall fall on her during the earthquake and when we found her, her leg was badly lacerated and infected. She was flown out for treatment and went to a hospital where she stayed for almost a month treating the infection and then having skin grafts. I will let the team fill you in on that later.
Some of us stayed back and I was able to spend a few hours of one on one discipleship time with Pradeep. He was the first ever believer in the village and has been very persecuted ever since. He has become very weary and dry spiritually. We were able to encourage him out of Isaiah 41.
17 “The poor and needy seek water, but there is none, Their tongues fail for thirst. I, the LORD, will hear them; I, the God of Israel, will not forsake them.
18 I will open rivers in desolate heights, And fountains in the midst of the valleys; I will make the wilderness a pool of water, And the dry land springs of water.
19 I will plant in the wilderness the cedar and the acacia tree, The myrtle and the oil tree; I will set in the desert the cypress tree and the pine And the box tree together,
20 That they may see and know, And consider and understand together, That the hand of the LORD has done this, And the Holy One of Israel has created it.
This was a verse that Rob shared this morning in team devotions. The land is dry physically and spiritually. I believe that God is calling Pradeep to be that strong tree in the wilderness. We began to teach about inductive bible study and encouraged him to start meeting on a regular basis with his family members and friends for prayer and bible reading.
Please pray for the believers here in the village. There is conflict with another church and pastor in a neighboring village that is such a bad witness. Some people even said to me, “if you are Christians and they are Christians why are you all so loving and they are not?” They are upset because we are not helping them financially. Pray that the heart of this pastor would change and he would fix his eyes on Christ not money.
Thank you all for the prayer covering!
