Update #4 Baton Rouge

“Carry each otherʼs burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.”
‭‭Galatians‬ ‭6:2‬ ‭NIV‬‬
The team woke up early before the sun to make our way back to the Denham Springs Police Department by 5:00am to cook breakfast. It was nice to see the same officers at the end of their shift and to see that some that had seemed leery of us when we cooked dinner for them last night now seemed a bit more comfortable with our presence. It would appear they could now trust were there only to serve them and share God’s love. We were even blessed to have the opportunity to pray with some of the staff who felt comfortable sharing some specific prayer requests with us. They were anxious to know when we would be coming back to Baton Rouge.

After that we returned to our favorite redhead, Dechia’s house and our team was greeted by her 3 year old daughter. The ladies helped her finish packing up the inside of the house while the guys emptied the shed. Dechia’s mother and father-in-law also showed up to help. The guys had an opportunity to minister to her father-in-law who is not only grieving the loss of his son but also still dealing with the aftermath of his house flooding.

“A man’s heart plans his way, But the LORD directs his steps.”
‭‭Proverbs‬ ‭16:9‬ ‭NKJV‬‬
Our original plan was to return to Mickey’s today to finish working in her fence but we were delighted to hear that after seeing us there yesterday, her neighbors decided to step in and help. This allowed us to spend more time at Dechia’s house which ended up to be a great blessing and a better plan.

“being strengthened with all power according to his glorious might so that you may have great endurance and patience,”
‭‭Colossians‬ ‭1:11‬ ‭NIV‬‬
It is amazing to see the strength and perseverance these families are showing despite the series of obstacles they are having to overcome. We feel privileged that they have allowed us to come into their lives at such a fragile time and be able to show them the love of Jesus that at one time has comforted all of us through our own trials.

PRAYER REQUEST
We learned today that Deicha’s daughter is going in for adenoids/tonsil surgery November 30. Please keep her in your prayers.
Blessings,
Lauren and Sandra
