…the Lord added to the church daily

“…Continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, they ate their food with gladness and simplicity of heart, praising God and having favor with all the people. And the Lord added to the church daily those who were being saved.”  – Acts 2:46-47

The book of Acts has really been put on my heart for this trip.  There are many things about what we are experiencing here and what divine appointments that have already been put in our path.  This is a unique team in that every one comes from a unique background from a variety of training and different cultures.  We also have two young team members ages 9 and 11 and our most wise member at age 79. It would have been easy to just “get to work” upon arrival and jump right into a busy schedule of our planning.  It’s clear God has a different plan and we have spent the last day and half upon arrival acclimating to the climate and fellowship with each other  and  and preparing for the work that we will endeavor today.  The verse from Acts stood out because it has some very essential components about the early church which is just as essential today.  The Lord has been guiding us too be “of one accord” as the church being representatives of Jesus Christ. We have been breaking bread and having intimate time with each other over our meals and regardless of where or what we have been eating, we have been doing so with “gladness and simplicity of heart.” We have favor with the people because we are praising God and giving Him all the credit and glory for everything. The devil has tried to stumble us and test our patience but the Holy Spirit has been given us the power to ignore the annoyances.  The Lord has already been adding to the local church here and we are blessed to come alongside the local family of saints. It’s clear that we are to be humble and in our humility is our unity and in that unity we will experience the blessings of being used by God to spread the Gospel and love of Jesus Christ.
